Maska movie camera

Rare Russian movie camera.

It is purposed to shoot a movie with traveling infra-red matte method. Two films are loaded simultaneously. A light being split into two spectral ranges. Visual range is used to picture an objects. IR range is used to light a background and to produce a mask image.

To setup a scene, you should have a background emitting IR light evenly. Foreground should be light by visible light. During first run, you'll get image of the scene on the first (usual b/w or color) film, and mask of the background on the second (IR-sensitive) film.

After the first run, you should reverse develop the IR film only, and load both films again. So, the developed IR film will act as a mask protecting foreground of the usual film during second run (so you can shoot or imprint any background on it).

Such process requires a precise film positioning, of course. So, this is high-end camera with great registration.

The lenses are chromatically corrected including IR spectre.
